2015 San Diego Film Festivals

San Diego is known throughout the world as a cultural center for surf, restaurants, and laid back atmosphere. What most people don’t know is that San Diego is home to many different film festivals for film makers and film enthusiasts alike. There are festivals for students and professionals, as well as festivals for different cultures and communities. Check out a few different festivals San Diego has to offer, and when they each premiere:

San Diego Film Festival: Late September

The San Diego Film Festival presents studio premieres, the best in independent filmmaking and extraordinary panel discussions with filmmakers that will inspire, entertain, educate, transform, and stimulate conversation among film lovers.

San Diego Black Film Festival: Late January

The San Diego Black Film Festival is one of the largest black film festivals in the country. It is held in southern California recognizes African American and movies and production. The festival was founded in 2003, and takes place every year during the last week of January in San Diego, California.

San Diego Italian Film Festival

Now in its 9th season, the San Diego Italian Film Festival, a not for profit organization, has quickly made its mark on the local landscape, joining ranks among the most beloved film festivals San Diego has to offer.

San Diego Latin Film Festival: March 10 – 20th

The San Diego Latino Film Festival was established 22 years ago as a student film festival focusing on works by Latinos and/or about the Latino Experience. Since that time, The San Diego Latino Film Festival has developed into one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the country. Over 285,000 people have attended during the past few years and over 3,480 films/videos from across Latin America and the United States have been screened.

San Diego Surf Film Festival: Late May

Since the festival’s inception, San Diego Surf Film Festival has been anchored towards celebrating those who draw a different line in life.  Much like the colorful characters of surfing’s past, the future of surf cinema will also be found in the underground. The San Diego Film Festival champion the independent filmmaker and their quest to capture and convey the very special feeling of being a surfer.  And with this in mind, the San Diego Film Festival continues to present the finest independent surf films from around the globe.
